The MTC representation included Dr Harald Egner, MTC Collaboration Manager, Dr David Brackett, Technology Manager Additive Manufacturing, Martin Dury, L&D Manager, Phil Jackson Technical Manager Automation and Dr Lina Huertas, Head of Technology Strategy for Digital Manufacturing.
The visit follows the signing of a strategic agreement between IMR and MTC which aims to strengthen the ties between the two research centres and promote mutual understanding between engineering and manufacturing research in the UK and Ireland. Dr. Andrew Lynch, Chief Innovation Officer IMR said: “The purpose of this series of visits is to build on our strategic partnership with the MTC and to explore new ways of working together in a postBrexit world”. Dr. Harald Egner said, “Irish Manufacturing Research (IMR) is a well-established and respected RTO brand throughout the EU. We’re delighted to be partnering with IMR and looking forward to working more closely for the benefit of our collective membership in both jurisdictions”
The visit included roadmap development sessions, technology mapping workshops and future collaborative research development programs. There was also an industrial training needs workshop organised, which included executives from Intel, J&J, Seagate, Socrates Training and Malone Group. David Gannon, MD Malone Group said, “IMR does exceptional work in facilitating large corporations working with Irish indigenous companies… delivering true international class solutions into the Irish manufacturing landscape”.
