PennEngineering appoints Quaid as managing director

Galway-based fastening company PennEngineering Fastening Technologies appointed Gerard Quaid as managing director of the company's subsidiary PennEngineering Europe, effective immediately.

He began his career at PennEngineering in 2018 as the vice president of sales and marketing for the EMEA region. He also was the vice president of global sales at Precision Castparts, an Oregon-based metal components manufacturer for aerospace industries. 

“It is a privilege to step into this role,” said Quaid. “For decades, PEM has been synonymous with solving customer challenges, empowering employees, and delivering consistent value to stakeholders. I am honoured to lead this remarkable organization and committed to building on its strong foundation as we navigate the opportunities and challenges ahead.”

Founded in 1942, PennEngineering specialises in self-cinch fasteners, connection solutions and insertion technology - with office located in the UK and Poland.

The company recently announced it has received a €14m investment to expand its Galway site and create 70 new jobs in the next five years.

PennEngineering manufacturing plant in Galway has embraced digital transformation across its operations, so was recently recognised with the Medium Lean Business of the Year Award by Lean Business Ireland. 

“As I take on this role, my focus will be on protecting PEM’s legacy while advancing our vision for a future of sustainable success,” added Quaid. “We are where our customers are, and we will continue to prioritize innovation, operational excellence, and stakeholder value at every step.”
